On that note, from a role playing perspective when someone casts a buff on you, you don't have timer to check whenever you please. You just start feeling it fade at the end of its effectiveness.

But what about item links during buying and selling and multi-chat windows? Those aren't Classic are they? Will they also get changed in the future? =(
