Default Cant get past server select!

I have this problem 95% of the time I try to play. When I first started to play a couple months ago I had no problem getting into game and playing. I stopped because I fell back into Fallout 4 but my wife gathered interest in playing p99 with me. So I put in a exemption which was granted, while waiting the month or so for the exemption to go through I was gonna play alone to get my bearings. Well this is where I encountered my problem I cant get past server select 95% of the time, really no rhyme or reason about it I just simply cant get past the server select. Now whats even weirder is the fact that i can login just fine from my wife's pc. So something on my pc is causing a problem but intermittently because of the fact I can get into the game the same day i have the problem.

Specs

AMD 8320e OCed 4.5GHZ
MSI TF GTX 760 4g
ASUS m5a78l lx plus BIOS 1701

Could be a problem related to your account, not your PC - try to log into your wife's account on your PC. If it still kicks you back to server select then you can rule that out as a possibility.

Ive tried every single account I have access too. All do the same thing. Ive pinged several IPs, and one that I read was the p99 server itself, all with zero packet loss and normal latency. Ive doen 3 fresh installs, using Programs, programs x86 and a separate folder I labelled as "games", all do the same thing. I have no idea where the bottleneck is but it's getting old.
In my experience it's a traffic/load issue. On nonpeak, late/early hours, when the server pop is super low, I don't have any issues. As soon as school/work let's out, bam, no server select until midnight.

Are you connected to the same router/modem as your wife's PC? Really sounds like a connection issue - are you connecting wirelessly?

both are Ethernet connections I can connect to my account and my wifes account via her pc on the same router but cant connect to either on my pc i even tried switching access ports on the router and not much of a change. I also think its a connection problem, possibly a program on my pc is hogging access to the proper port.

ps

what ports are required for the process to run properly?

Yeah it's hard to say - I'd try messing around with your network configuration. Try forwarding the P99 ports (world server: 9000 zones: 7000-7150), try switching to a static IP instead of using DHCP, try using Google's public DNS address instead of obtaining one automatically if you aren't.

Could also be a bad network card at that point - integrated or otherwise. Might want to disable your ethernet connection and try a USB wireless stick or a different network card to rule that out.

The server (remote end) uses specific ports to receive packets from the client, but the ports the client (local end) uses are ephemeral, chosen at random from (a large subsection of) all your remaining available ports. So it wouldn't be that. Unless all incoming UDP packets headed to ports around 40000 to 65535 are being blocked...

Hmm, yeah that's a good point - forwarding the server ports won't actually do anything since the client isn't using those ports to receive data. I suppose you could just open up 40000-65535 but that might be unwise. EQ really shouldn't require any port forwarding though, especially if your wife doesn't have any issues and she's on the same router. It does make me wonder though if there's a configuration file you can edit to assign your client a specific port.
