Actually, these guys are scumbags and breaking the rules... OP has a legit claim to the camp. OP has a claim to the mobs that he is camping and killing. The iksars can have the rest of the mobs, but he should have control over the mobs hes continuously killing. The camp stealers should be banned. Just because there are additional mobs spawned that OP isn't killing quickly enough doesn't mean that these offenders are entitled to take everything.

It's a strange situation on this server. The GM's only enforce a player's right to camp a single outdoor spawn at its spawn point. That's it. In the distant past there was something about a 4 spawn rule if they were all close together to be considered a camp for a solo player, but then around 2 years ago it was reduced to just one.

In theory the iksar player(s) could have checked to see which 2 to 3 giants the OP was killing and then started to help themselves to the rest. But the players on this server are largely dicks. I keep coming back every now and then to see if a fresh server will be rolled out and what the altered rules set will be (because there WILL be changes with it).

Until then, the necros and shamans camping felwithe guards with sub level 10 characters parked next to them to bank with and the dual boxed merchants in EC tunnel can continue to gather navel lint.

I think the larger problem is plain old ignorance. X% of new players don't even read the rules on the Getting Started page. Y% do when they first start, but they don't "grok" them fully because they're new. Z% read the whole thing, "grok" all of it, and maybe even come back a month later to re-read it ... but a year after that they've forgotten important stuff.

You and I know that, most forum regulars and people who petitioned over those issues knows that, but it's not actually in the rules.

Imagine ... what if the staff (or player volunteers with staff support) completely rewrote the rules, making them as brief as possible but still including every rule the guides/GMs follow? What if a link to those rules was "stickied" at the top of every forum, wiki, or main project1999.com page? What if new players got sent an email a few months after signing up (and every year after?) reminding them of the rules? What if when you logged in to EQ itself the server MoTD was had helpful rule reminders like "If a player has been waiting to kill a single monster since before you arrived it is against the rules to kill that monster"?

I really think if the server did some of those things, or anything else in that vein to help inform the players of the rules, it would genuinely reduce both the number of petitions the staff has to deal with and the number of threads like this one ... ie. the number of dicks.

Actually you were soloing the two giants at the bottom of the ramp. We were logged out at the top of the ramp in the safe spot, when we logged in not a single mob was dead and we offered you to group. I'll post the logs.

"No two decisions, even at the same 'camp', are guaranteed to be the same, as we will take into account multiple factors in making a determination on a 'camp'.

That being said, you can absolutely "camp" mobs, and you cannot steal another players 'camp'. In general, if the placeholder or placeholders for a spawn are being killed, that 'camp' can be considered held by the player doing the killing so long as they are keeping the placeholders cleared. You do not necessarily need to be at the spawn point to call it 'claimed' while it is uncontested, however, if someone else wishes to contest the 'camp' you do need to return to the 'camp' and maintain a presence at or very near the spawn(s) in order to hold it. You cannot hold multiple 'camps' if another group wishes to contest one that you are holding. The player holding multiple 'camps' retains the right to choose which 'camp' to give up.

Please do your best to use courtesy and common sense when interacting with other players in spawn disputes."


Nothing about 20 seconds, nothing about outdoors, nothing about 1 spawn point outside. None of that exists in the rules post that the public can see lol.
