After careful review of the incident, it came to light that indeed at the time that Bummey stated "book not up," the book was, in fact, not on the pedestal and consequently, not up.

(crowd begins to gasp and murmur, one woman faints and a large man turns away in disgust)

Settle down. I understand, I understand. The reality of the matter was that in a purely technical sense, Bummey did not lie! But we must also consider the facts leading up to the book not being up - that is where our focus must stay!
