After how long we waited for Velious on Blue it's going to be very jarring to have only 7 months of Kunark, and only 3 months with Epics before Velious rolls around. I suspect most players will keep most of their planar gear through Kunark and only end up replacing it in Velious. Kunark will be more about the 50-60 XP grind than gearing up appreciably. I'm curious how VP will be treated on Green though. I think most guilds will just skip it altogether, focus on leveling and keep their powder dry for Velious. Depending on how heavily contested Trak is there might not even be a single guild capable of fielding a successful VP raid before Velious drops. That would be a pretty amusing contrast with Blue's history.

Year 1 - Classic Year 2 - Kunark Year 3 - Velious Year 4 - Final year Year 4 ends - Reset/Rollover/New Green server starts A solid year in classic and Kunark is enough time to fully appreciate the content in each before moving on. Then two years in Velious allows enough time to bring the server to full maturity and to just start feeling stale enough to get people excited for a fresh Green restart. All that being said, I will not quibble with the staff's decision to approximate the classic timeline, especially on the first go-around with Green. I'm sure they might consider modest changes to the timeline for future Greens based on how the first one goes.

Game related I had already realized on live that it is no fun to join a guild that has been in high end farming mode for a while. When my guild decided to leave the Innoruuk server to move to the new European one - Antonius Bayle I think? - we were just in the process of fighting our way into ToV. The server move resulted in the guild breaking up though. Our leader had arranged for us to join Darkwind and I would have been accepted after the trial phase. It just wasn't fun for me. I had enjoyed gearing up, getting stronger as a guild, moving towards more difficult targets. Suddenly getting all that handed to me, racing from one easy god kill to the next, just didn't do it for me. Between that and leaving a few good friends on the old server made me decide to quit. That memory made me reconsider my plans to level to 55+ on Blue and join the raiding scene. Instead I tried a few classes I never really played before and got them to 40+ during my episodes of playing. And then it looked as if Green might really happen in the foreseeable future...

I would literally attempt maybe 1 character for green to 60, something I haven't played to 60 before so when it does roll into blue I'm just giving myself more long term options there [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

The Iksar are going to have a gigantic advantage because they are going to get totally twinkled out and oog buffed and healed on the way up. They’ll join the 50+ grind very soon after.
