Default Binding in TD

I saw a thread in the archive talking about binding in TD being nerfed 4 days in to the release of Kunark. I just need to call bs on that.

I started with Kunark (bought the Kunark CD at the store). I leveled a wiz to 52. Then changed servers to level a mage to like 50 something and then bound my mage at the TD firepots before Velious came out. Binding yourself there was nerfed sometime prior to Velious, but not 4 days after the release of Kunark.

There was definitely a nerf first to block binding melee at the firepots very early. And then that cause speculation that all binding would get nerfed and casters were still able to bind themselves for quite some time.

When luclin came out, this was a point of contention between me and my guild at the time because they wanted everyone bound in the Nexus and I did not want to give up my (then nerfed) bind. So by Luclin, it was definitely nerfed. Based on posts on allakhazam, it looks like it was definitely nerfed sometime before late August 2000.

I guess all I am saying, is there is no way I leveled 2 casters over 50 after the release of kunark and bound both of them at the firepots if this was actually nerfed 4 days into kunark.

I even had a death loop once where the dragon was at the firepots and killed me for 3 levels while I was afk camping raptors with my epic pet on Brell Serilis. This was during the time where people were all bitchy about mages being able to AFK camp with epic pets..

I am annoyed because I didn't realize it was going to be nerfed so fast (or ever). It worked for several months on live - longer than Kunark has been out here.

Tonight I was like "Hey, I guess its about time to bind my necro there now that hes ready to start venturing out more". Make the journey, try to bind, can't. But its totally not accurate.

Remembering it doesn't make it true:
http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20000428.html

Quote:
Binding in Timorous Deep:

Due to a feature within the zone, players can no longer bind within Timorous Deep. This functionality was intended in the zone prior to launch, as binding presents a possible balance issue. Players who are already bound in this zone will retain their binding location until they bind someplace else.
(this patch was april 28th; Kunark was launched april 24th. Also, fun fact: if you type "kunark release" into google, the two suggestions are "kunark release date" and "project 1999 kunark release").

Looks like it was unnerfed in 2002. That must be what I was remembering.

I probably never tried binding there while it was nerfed, so in my mind it just "always worked".

They're called Braziers. Not firepots. Firepot isn't a word. That is all.

Remember that this isn't live and not everything will be day perfect to what happened with live on patching. There's bound to be some discrepancies, nothing major eh?

Do you say "bray-zi-er" or "braz-ear"?
