Default IP Temporary Block on it

So here at work we have played EQ on our network and I just tried to log in while my other guy is logged on and I get the IP has a temporary block on it.

Is this normal? Can you not get two computers logged on?

You can't login with more than 1 character otherwise it's multiboxing which is against the [rules].

Log out entirely on your "other guy" so that you can login on another character.

"IP temporary block"' is a safety net to prevent multiboxing.

The answers you seek are in the Rules.

6. You may not have more than one client running per real life person playing on Project 1999 (Boxing).

There is no 'boxing' on Project 1999 servers. Boxing is defined as having more than one client running from a single computer, or having more than one client running per person in the same household on different computers. Project 1999 has an IP block on its servers to prevent players from boxing. You may apply for an IP exemption if you have more than one person in your household wanting to play by following the instructions on this forum:

Petition forums. Be sure to read the announcement sticky prior to posting to ensure all required information is contained within your petition.

Violation of this rule will result in disciplinary action, and you may lose the account(s) involved.

The exception to this rule is having one client running for Project 1999 Red PvP as well as one for Project 1999 Blue. This is allowed.

If the "other guy" is a separate human entity that is also playing with his own account, you can request at exemption via the petition forum. Read the sticky thread and be sure to answer each of the questions. Be patient, and do not bump your post. They're processed in batches so it may be some time (could be several weeks) before it is processed.

Then, the two of you (two individual humans each with their own account) can play via the same connection. Do not at any time try to play two characters by yourself. You'll get caught, and both accounts will be banned.

Thank you both for your help. I completely understand why they have that. I happen to own my own business and my employee works with me also started playing. Realistically it would only be during lunch that we would do this so its not a big deal. I was just trying to log in and get a little exp while we were eating. Again, thank you both for the information.
