The ARMY is not like that at all. The ARMY is the only job where I could speak my mind without having to worry about getting fired. It was hard to me to become a civilian because in the private sector your employer and co-workers do not care about you at all. In the ARMY your commander and the soldiers in your platoon are literally your family. When you're deployed or in the field, you literally spend more time with your officers and subordinates than you do your wife and kids. You end up becoming very, very close. You watch too much TV if you think otherwise.

Yeah but you also know that things are WAY different in that work place. People accept A LOT more shit from people because they know that violence can be an option one day. The local grocery store boss wont sanction a below the collar fight between workers, either. Thats why you can say whatever you want in the DOD without worrying about getting fired. They got options for the offended, outside of paperwork bullshit. Grievance reports, they call em.
