I think the more curious thing, looking at it from a detached view, is that each "side" today somehow thinks the other's zealots are in ascension. Usually one or the other is clearly gaining ascendancy but in the current day each side seems to think there's an emergency as the other side's barbarians pound at the gates. I think some other posters who call that a function of modern media 24/7 scaremongering tactics might have the right idea.

Look at how they constantly see society and human development as something they can engineer, like every human is peice of play dough for their crafting.

This is how all of their policies look in action. This the view of atheist materialism, without the idea that humans have a divine creator then there is no idea that the person is considered sacred, the idea of the sovereign individual comes from the very structure of the marriage of Christianity and Greek thought. Those are the evil structures that must be torn down. The sacred sovereign individual in property and mind and body is an idea the left can't tolerate because it forms its own hierarchy outside of the ones they want to approve.

I was trying to think of someone I know who holds all of those views. I could not. Perhaps someone does somewhere, but mostly folks might hold one or some, but not all, or partial but not fully. I'd say the party (both of them really, but we're talking Democrats) have too many people under one umbrella and it results in schizophrenic policy. You could alternately suggest that perhaps the loons have gained control and perhaps you might be right.

For my part I'm stuck on the outside looking in. There are some Democrat policies I like, some Republican policies I like, and a whole lot of stuff from both that ticks me off.
