DLing client, starting IK Necro. Figured it’s easiest option starting fresh. Since I won’t be able to acquire a pre nerf COS, is that going to be a big negative on QOL?

It's a valuable item for a reason, but I wouldn't say it's super negative not having one. Like you can still get a goblin gazugi ring for instant charm break and circlet of shadowS for mana free invis. That's a lot of the utility of the pre-nerf version, though obviously not as good. Necro is definitely one of the top options for starting fresh.

IK Necro is a solid choice.

Druid is another absolute unit for just starting out and getting plat/gear.

I have a 60 IK Necro on Red and not having the pre-nerf CoS is not a big deal at all. As mentioned above, the Gazughi ring fixes this and your home town isn't farm from the Gazughi camp. If you can get a spot while leveling, the 30 second repops can make for solid exp AND loot. If you're happy skipping on the ring for a bit, you can absolutely dominate that camp with your pet at higher levels.

My iksar necro has the Circlet of Shadows, post-nerf, 3sec cast time, and its just fine. Hail Cazic.

After 2 weeks of trying to find a group, I finally got one in KC where the cleric ninja-afkd, the pally was ninja looting and trying to say it rotted, and lame number three- his buddy- backed his play. That was the one group I managed to get. Let that sink in: Two weeks, one group.

Sure, you can get buffs and ports - to help you get where you are going to solo, because they ain't grouping with you, pal. You're really just being hustled off with a smile.

So, as far as I can tell, the server is mostly fossilizing cliques... and rejects who you end up with because no one wants to group with them. I have not been unkind or acting the fool or anything to bring this on myself. I did everything right. This is the first time I have said something.
They are encouraging you to play necro because that's what you tell a person to play before you stick them in the corner. There is a reason this server is in decline.

Anyway, fair warning. This is a single player game unless you are one of the ground floor people who everyone has known for years.

Find another game now or later, after investing a bunch of time.

It's so bad, man. It's not even fun. It just straight-up sucks here.

I am going to give it one more try, then I will try green. If it's the same crap there, I am uninstalling.

Necro is a solid choice for a fresh start. Can do it gearless and not be too noticeable. Grouping is for suckers on a necro, don't lower yourself to that.
