Default animations broken

I've noticed since the last patch that often my GBS / Drachnid Thyxl / Rokyl's Shield all sometimes do not animate. They don't blink/glow/flash - whatever you want to call that animation. It's just stuck on the first frame of the animation. Same goes for fires in game - they just are stuck on one frame of animation

this was happening on my old computer and my new one with a fresh install

I had a similar query with this very persistent issue as of the last year or so, and I think I have finally found the file causing the problem.

The newest dsetup.dll file in patch files (last edit date 10/25/2025) seems to be the cause.

I tried replacing every gequip file, global_chr file 1 by 1 with a base titanium install with no results. I then tried base titanium dsetup.dll file inside of my install and p99 declined it, citing outdated patch files.

I eventually found an older install of mine with a dsetup.dll that had a last edit date of 10/25/2019 and after replacing the newest dsetup with this older version (6 years to the date weirdly enough) it has completely resolved the animation problem with red orbs, blinky shields, ranger epics etc... Not sure what is up with the newest version of this file, but graphically it does ruin the game from a cosmetic standpoint if your character is wielding anything with an animation.
