These Slaan remain an active part of the Warhammer settings, despite the release of their Lizardmen armybook predating Everquest, all the way back to 1997 (and they preceded this date in earlier frog-warrior configurations too)!
Oooh good to know, thank you [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Had to look it up but Grungs are basically Frogloks in DnD, 2nd edition, so as early as 1988? According to the internet. And they've since made an unofficial return in the more/most recent editions as well.

Another thread discusses the Warhammer version and what may have inspired their inclusion.

IRL there's also the Loveland Frogman, an Ohio legend, dating back to the 1950s. In most depictions, he wears a loin cloth and carries a wand. Maybe one of the devs grew up around there.

I wanna be a geonid.

It'd be SUPER DANK if eating gems you looted somehow boosted you or that you could use gems instead of mana etc. I know it'd break with rich folks, but used as a"new player experience" I think it could be a ton (or two) of fun.

Lots of peeps chatting about gendered types, but rocks aint gendered in P99 so it'd be a cool unisex option too, not like a missed gender model that some of the other races have.

The spotted leaper appears a bizarre cross between a wolf and a frog. Perhaps six feet from snout to rump, covered with slick, hairless skin that is a dark green color with occasional pink splotches, it lacks all trace of fur but has a set of fangs worthy of any wolf that ever strode the land. Extra long front legs tipped with raking claws give it the bounding gait that has earned it its name.

I've always thought Barbarians should have had East Karana be a starter city,

and that Druids should have been able to start in Rathe with evil Unkempt quests and faction.

I dunno when the Luclin "Erudite wars blow kerrans and a chunk of Norrath to the moon" storyline was thought up but that would have been problematic.
Having said that id have played a Kerran Monk 4 sure.
It's referenced by an NPC in stonebrunt.

Playable giants.

Their base stats would be 140 STR, 140 STA, 65 AGI, 70 DEX, 75 WIS, 75 INT, 45 CHA
Big Daddy Rallos Zek as their only deity option.
They'd get complete immunity to all stuns like NPC giants have, they'd get slam, infravision, and only be able to wear very large sized armor exclusive to them, and maybe share a few pieces with ogres and trolls. They'd be unable to wield normal 1 handed weapons, instead they can use sufficiently large 2handers as if they were 1 handers, and extra large giant only weapons as actual 2 handers.

They can only be shrunk down to slightly above ogre size.
They can summon throwing boulders at will because I think that's funny.
They'd get a 40% exp penalty and only be able to play Warriors.
They go berzerk under 100% hp instead of 40% hp so you're always absolutely chunking.
They'd have a hardcoded minimum attack delay of like 30.

I like this idea!

How about a GM event, where players can play giants and raid cities, either Freeport or Qeynos? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Frogloks because they are the iconic eq race like murlocs are to wow. Krup and Guk would be like their freeport and qeynos.
Kerrans because male females existing, have citys and lore. Stone brunt and isle like their freeport and qeynos.
Coldain because duh, they'd be like the first allied race perhaps like wow does.
Ratonga or whatever, because they are in velious and the hole and were in eq2 I guess. Could have them be allied with the giants against the wurms and use kael like the coldain use thurgadin.
Alternatively or additionally could have them start in odus too, perhaps a Freeport/qeynos situation revitalising odus and explaining their presence in the hole. Cats vs mice dynamic.

You could even make beastmasters for these classes if they wanted to but I don't care for other classes after that and I'm only 50 50 on them. Pets would be a gator (considered bats baslisks and spiders).
For frogs. Tigers for kerrans, wolves for coldain. Giant rats for ratonga.
Gnolls and Orcs seem a bit meh, anyone suggesting undersized or oversized non humanoid or non air breathing models is being unrealistic, it'd be a ball ache to design and balance around.

Honestly my suggestions would make the game feel complete for me.

Honorable mention to goblins (runneye a psudeo city already) but their models suck
Kobolds (just not enough going on there) warrens like their city and the 3 way dog cat rat war theme I guess.
Lizard men l, already have a good and bad one, have some quests involving them getting roped into ogre troll cold war, could have croc pets and frogs get something else. But just smaller more boring ikkies in most peoples minds.
Sarnaks just iksar with less ties to other races.
