Default Need WinEQ or no?

Just got Everquest working on a Mac mini using VMware Fusion only. Do I even need WinEQ? It seems to be working except I can't see myself or other character bodies. I tried the eqclient.ini change but that didn't affect anything. I can't get to the settings in the client either, to change shaders. Anybody have any other ideas? Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't need WinEQ. VMWare is virtualization right? So you're just running the game in windows, meaning any issues you see are likely issues due to install. I would never buy an apple product so have no idea but GL.
