think VHF/UHF only have like a 5 light year range before they blend into cosmic background noise (apparently that shit about I love Lucy and The Honeymooners broadcasts being 75 light years away by now isn't true ;/ ) so we're pretty damn sure nobody lives on Proxima Centauri b or we would have noticed each other by now
we should send that Mormon generational ship like in The Expanse to claim that shit pronto

I have been thinking that a theocracy is the only future that can exist with a concious species.
like i have a feeling if we met aliens that they would be extremely theocratic. I know that sounds horrible because we like freedom but hear met out, the old "god is a higher power that cannot be changed" is superior for managing an infinite amount of individual consciousness. If you create a society of people that think that they are righteous and individuals that can become god, then over time, you will have more people that want to do that than don't and you get societal collapse. So like the ultimate utopia, is theocratic in nature, but offers the freedom to live the way rugged athiest individualism provides. Relying on the theocratic part to drive people to not rationalize fucking each other over. Like, startrek is very optimistic, and fits our generations hopes for the future because we're very ruggid athiestic. But it's likely not possible to maintain that utopia that it once was. Case and point: The latest TV series completely butcharing everything that was utopian about it and turning it into a anarcho fascist horror show. If we thought of TNG as literally god, then we'd have some great TV. This is a thread about religion right? I only posted this because it's been on my mind and I thought for some reason this was a religion thread. I could ahve tried to weasle it into the AI thread by saying to manage a theocratic utopia you have to have ai or something.

Roddenberry's post sacrity communist utopia was peak boomer optimism, whatever it was it was at least honest to itself, geniue in its optimism, nu-trek i don't even know what the point of it is or what it's trying to say.
like the one episode of Picard I watched painted the federation as basically fascist, fuck that shit and everyone who worked on it it's just masturbatory doomerism On the theoracy point, I think the feudal monarchy pyramid is the most efficient and stable system with the church as a seperate outside the state power and stabilizing force with excommunication veto over the sovereign in case they go all mad king, it's why I think the sci fi that uses it seems the most realistic.. Dune, WH40k, Apples Foundation series..etc
