Hey guys,

So a memory I have from waaay back in the day. I was at the thief camp just outside of Kelethin one day and I remember a buddy of mine pointed out how a wizard had arrived. After some time he ended up casting a spell and it just wreaked havoc on the theives.. My buddy said that he had cast Ice Comet and I swear to this day I saw something actually come down from the sky with the spell and hit them.. I was talking to him about it the other day and he doesn't seem to remember seeing it happen and now I'm starting to think that it was a false memory. Did Ice comet used to have a different look back in the day and its just not the same on p99 or did my childhood imagination take over for that? Do yall have any strange memories like this?

The replacement spell effect from the 2002/2003 era matches your description, at least. Can't recall whether there was an earlier variant.

On the quarm server it drops a giant ball of ice on the target as you describe.

I remember when ice comet quest was completed on my server, the gnome that had it was in the oasis and I asked if i could see it cast

He came up to me and we were chatting, and i was like, can i see it?

And he's like, "I've been killing gators with it this whole time, look" and he cast it again, and it was just the nearly invisible shock of ice effect.
