So back to music! Rockin the Stones - Paint it Black presently. Someone talk about more music with a side of music and some music. I want to read about something other than bigotry and drugs. Thanks!

tme to stirr up some hate!

Everyone I know either listens to very underground rock (from experimental to the billions of cores to the metals), classic rock, rap, or folk and as consequence hate my music. most of what i listen to are "gold and platinum" bands that most fans of previously stated genres i think judge to quickly because they are "radio" bands. But as with anything if you listen to their new and old, popular and non popular tracks you see the rabbit hole is more than what the sunlight will show. the list:

Muse, Cake, RHCP, Incubus, Modest Mouse, Radiohead, Gnarls Barkley, Audioslave, The Toadies, Foo Fighters, The Mars Volta, The Offspring, Sublime, Tool, The Roots, (various solo projects from mostly guitarrists/bassists of these bands), Squarepusher, 311, Stone Temple Pilots (really their non radio/not so generic songs), Of course your default classic rock bands (zep, who, floyd, beatles, etc.) Dreamtheater in small doses mostly mid/early, and other stuff like that.

you're welcome to flame on!

I know when something is put in a box and sold to me but these bands are actually so good they can sell millions of albums without being told what riffs and lyrics to produce...they just use labels for mass marketing. which i cant blame them. I like money and id like people to hear my music even more. and if that takes cheesy photoshoots, t-shirts, and coffee mugs hell yeah. as long as its your art.

but i also see the whole counter culture idea as an even cheaper way of being culturefied. I see more people with mowhawks, tall Ts/sideways hats, and crazy cut hair with random blonde spots, and large sunglasses than anything as it is. kinda makes me wonder.

not flaming about anyones lifestyle. sayin as i see it.

those people are silly geese and need to chill when it comes to music. I think the only bands I actually can not tolerate are ones that promote hate, racism, and sexism. some people just like to define themselves by their music, so typically anything outside their normal sphere of listening they treat with mild hostility.

I can p much get along with anyone musically. So long as they don't force me to listen to Pearl Jam or bands that sound like Pearl Jam it's okay. I had a roommate in the late 90s who would literally play pearl jam and stp like 8+ hours straight with nothing else in between. I was never a huge fan but after this even the few songs I thought were okay by these bands I now hate.

I am super lazy when it comes to organizing my music and currently have about 22k songs on a single playlist on random on winamp. It's so bad who knows what could be playing at any given moment lol every few days I will hear a song come up that I swear I have never heard before.
