Default Cute Little Server

The lack of hacking and boxing on this server is commendable. That's the good part.

I see some old familiar names like Darwoth on the forums here. Last time I saw that name was fighting on the slope of east karana on Discord test server. I'm sure there's lots of old school people here. I don't expect most people here to instantly recognize this avatar, since it's my "99" avatar from eq, and I've played under many names since. I'm honestly not here to inflate my ego though, even though I played EQ since opening week of 99 on rallos zek across 3 major servers and didn't permanently quit until before HoT launched, so I've experienced the evolution of this game in every era across multiple pvp servers and rulesets. I've been involved in this mess since the whole thing began so my opinion has some value.

I don't want to detract from the pve accomplishments of the sleep-deprived, but it takes more than a few weeks interacting with a dozen or two people to become a "master of the pvp". I've seen more pvp "masters" come and go in eq over the last dozen years than this server has players logged in atm.

I'm not trying to say the people doing well on this server aren't great eq players, but if you want to blow smoke in a dozen year old game expect to get fanned out a little. Some of us didn't even hear about this little thing until a few days ago. Many more will probably not even find out about it.

Who determines which update of the 99 classic is the "authentic" one?

When Rallos Zek first launched:
*HUGE population you cannot recreate
*item loot was part of pvp
*mob faction and faction burning was a part of pvp
*charm/fear landed on players for a while
*nukes did 100% damage
*pets did 100% damage
*pvp within 4 levels limit
and the list goes on, but you get the idea. For these reasons nobody should be using the "it's not classic" clause, because that statement proves to be irrelevant in light of the facts of what classic eq pvp was in 1999, and depends on which part of 99 you are even referring to~

Now Sony nerfed prayers of life, golem wands and manastones for a reason. They don't launch any new servers with these items left in game because they trivialize the game in terms of pve and pvp. If Sony, the world-reknowned clowns of asinine stupidity, can figure this much out, surely the devs of this server can see that recharging golem wands and prayers of life was never healthy for a pvp server. Smart players are going to start hoarding as many prayers as they can from raids. Speedd from Sullon Zek eventually accumulated over 30 prayers and became virtually unkillable until they nerfed these things (he was still pretty damn hard to kill without them). The Ivandyr's hoop thing is pretty op too. 99% of the player base didn't know that turning a ruby into Lyunga netted you an item that could do more damage than a 50 SK's harm touch from range.

When I played on Rallos Zek I didn't even hit 50 because nobody knew it was important to be level 50. We just went where the action was, and it was in the 20s and 30s for months and months. Pvprs generally went where the greatest density of action was. I remember vididly the guild Covetous Crew was the first self-proclaimed "pvp guild" on rallos zek to hit 50, and then they promptly quit because the idiots didn't have anybody to fight and they got bored playing with themselves because they were a "pvp guild." None of us gave a shit that those bluebies were the first to 50. You cannot recreate the ignorance we all had about the game. You cannot recreate the 100s of humans and dark elves warring with each other every day in commonlands, or the fact that half a year into the server even the far out karanas had 30-50 people in them on average every day.

A few people congratulating themselves for being masters of an empty world masters of pvp this does not make you. 99 is gone. classic is gone. this isn't classic. it's the next best thing. It's better than nothing. I'll just call it what it is.

Not a single screenshot and i would give you this title over Lovely any day. Clicking instant cast items to drop a couple players in 2 seconds is as close to PvP as me punching a baby is to an Ultimate Fighting match. It is very disappointing that nothing is being done to remove the scum from this server, so the rest of us can enjoy an exploit free environment.

Default correction

and before people jump to correct me, I just realized I mistated one thing, but I think from the context of what I was saying it's pretty obvious what I meant. Sony didn't "remove" prayers of life from their servers. They just removed the ability to recharge them, which is just as effective a move as removing them entirely, because without the ability to recharge them and the rarity with which they drop they are almost worthless. I can only imagine how 5 instant clicks of a potent group heal can benefit pvp, but I always was a bit thick.

If memory serves....

Ever = DE wiz from Darkenbane on Rallos Zek

close?

Anyway there is a shitload of things not classic on this server... What baffles me is how pumices are no longer instant clicks, have a cast time, but these wands are still rechargable and instant? ok that's balanced... which btw instant pumices were still in the game well into Velious I believe
