Game Mechanics: Smithing combine wont work

Eqtraders says a small brick of ore and a smithing chisel will combine in a forge to make 2 small pieces of ore , but it just says "you cannot combine those items in this container" when i try it.

Also tarnished spear and water flask wont combine.

This is a generic message requesting more information.

Please post research/links regarding this bug report and it will be further investigated and fixed if necessary.

If this has been corrected since the time of original posting, please respond as such so it can be moved to resolved issues.

These were addressed in the tradeskill revamp of last year.
