I say the mods run a poll and go from there. Poll a month, as our pop rises?

I think the population has risen much less than expected / hoped following the article on TTH. Whether this is due to a lesser influx of players or the retirement of many "older" ones is hard to say. We are, in my humble opinion, currently at a difficult point population-wise, where the pros and cons of global are fairly balanced out. A couple of hundred more in either direction, and the choice seems much more clear.

Yep chatserver (global chat channels) are flakey in eqemu - another thing is that they would just end up replacing ooc and auction which would stop the tunnel from returning.

Another good thing about the ec tunnel is it's a good testing ground to see how well zones hold up and the maximum amount of players they can hold. Plus it's one of the two things most people ask about classic servers 'is everyone in ec' and 'are boats working'. That would be one of the two resolved and we're working on the other.

I don't post much, but I feel strongly about this. Global chat needs to end. For no other reason, because it's not classic. Isn't that the rationale for most things that are changed here?

Besides, there is just way too much garbage that I don't want to see.

(as any number of douchebags what want a "classic server", yet also want their hands held): "If you don't like it, just turn it off".
