Default Seeking Duo Advice

Hello All, my friend has showed interest in starting up p1999 with me so we are starting to theory craft while he searches for his copy of titanium.

We will be Duoing most of the time so I was wondering what you guys think would make a great 2 man team.

He has shown interest in Druid as kiting is kinda his thing.

The duo I have been thinking would be most efficient would be (as our gear is limited):

Necro/Druid... For kiting goodness
Chanter/Druid ... For Charming and mind candy
Bard/Druid ... For tons of utility and kiting

I would love more suggestions for good duo's. Im glad he likes the idea of druid for purely selfish reasons [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I don't really like any of the three combo's you presented. No real tank on any of them. Two casters sound good on paper but if your spells fizzle or you run oom your goose is cooked. Bard Druid has to be the worse of the bunch. Druids are always oom and the Bard doesn't need mana on paper. So the Druid sits for 8 minutes while the Bard runs in circles for 20 minutes?? Please don't tell me a Bard can Tank.

You are really taking three classes that are good at soloing and trying to make them a combo. EQ is really based on a few classes that can solo, or the basic Tank, CC, Healer group.

Necro druid would be pretty effective, especially in later levels. But I do agree a bit with the above post, something like monk/druid would be more versatile.

Chanter/druid is a really great combo.

For more advice use the search function.

I've played with a friend using both the druid/enchanter and the druid/necro (I was the enchanter, druid respectively) at around level 60 and they both work really well. Only thing was our druid/enchanter pair was using a dire charm pet (old wurms in skyfire), which as the plan goes, will never happen on this server. It is quite easy killing a guardian wurm with a dc pet once it is slowed.

Still, you can fear kite with animation (which gets pretty good when buffed up), or just charm something. Having everything snared makes things very easy. Some people say enchanter/shaman is better and cite the malo line. However I think if your enchanter has sufficiently high charisma I would sooner have the snares (and ports).

Necro/druid works basically as a necro soloing with the druid using ensnare instead of the darkness line (though you can use darkness). Just that ensnare lasts forever so it makes things easier. Druid also casts whatever regen on the necro, and does the pulling to give the necro as much sitting time as possible.

Druid/bard sounds pretty awful. Where is the dps? Druid/SK druid/warrior or druid monk would be a lot better (monk perhaps the best), but you would be many times better off with a shaman instead of the druid. Just fight mobs that don't run. There are plenty to be found.

A Bard can't tank a Green Mob. Get real.

All good choices. Mage is a fun class in a duo too, given how strong their pets are.

Enc/Cleric or Enc/Shaman are even stronger at high levels than Enc/Druid, but the latter can still get it done.

Being gear-limited at first, you've got the right idea to stick to casters. You can do a reasonable Monk/Shaman duo without a huge starting investment, and that is a great duo for all levels, but any other melee-based combination would be pretty slow and/or frustating in comparison.
