goto Ebay and search for Dell D600. Find one that has 2gb of ram shouldnt cost more then 200 bucks. Old as crap but runs EQ just fine.

Complaining about HP is for people who don't know computers (that would be you, Raptur). If you wipe the OS, keep it clean, and defrag on the reg, they all last around the same time. We have HP laptops at work that have far outlasted Dells, and vice-versa. Even if the HDD goes bad (which is highly unlikely in less than ~3 years) - just buy a new, bigger one.

And for the OP - if your budget is ~$300... I recommend stalking Best Buy / Amazon for the sub ~300 deals which occur about once a month or bi-weekly. Sometimes you can nab a decent AMD-based (AMD lappy's are way better for cheap performance, wayyyy better) laptop for ultra-cheap. I wouldn't buy a used laptop unless I knew the owner.

You built your own laptop? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

If so, I'm impressed. I wouldn't even know where to begin buying the parts I'd want in it.

Gaming laptops, they're as much of a fantasy as the pixies of Greater Faydark.

I've learnt my lesson, stick to a desktop...and building my own next time, no HP/Acer/Dell bullshit.

I haven't owned a manufacturer made desktop since my Compaq in 2001 (gogo AMD thunderbird 1ghz!) that still runs to this day... lol.

As for laptops - like I said in my earlier post: AMD's "A" class CPU series is very good for running games. The fact that they integrate GPU and CPU processes makes the shared video cards much more effective. You end up getting the gaming power of a much better computer. I am blown away by how effective the A10 CPU + Radeon GPU is in my HP lappy. The fact that I can run Deus Ex: HR, D3, SWTOR, and the like on max graphics for less than $500 is amazing. You def don't need a $1000 laptop to run games... just like you don't need a $1000 desktop to run high-end graphics. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
