Default Independence

Even while locked down without toilets or clothes, forced to sit and live in their own shit, and falsely accused to boot, this man and his comrades wrote songs, poems, influenced government, and never gave in to their oppression. Bobby Sands died in prison hunger striking, yet in his mind was as free and independent as anyone can aspire to being.

In his own words: "They have nothing in their whole imperial arsenal that can break the spirit of one Irishman who doesn't want to be broken." - Bobby Sands, Member of Parliament

From the political prisoners indefinitely detained in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, some of whom have been there for a DECADE now, who have been on a hunger strike since February thwarted because they are being being forcibly fed with tubes against their will, to Corcoran and Pelican bay State Prisons in California, where, in 4 days, a group of prisoners begin an indefinite hunger strike to demand changes to the conditions of their lives, these people are in a very real struggle for independence in a way that most of the people who are reading this have never even considered, much less faced.

Your euphemisms about freedom and liberty and patriotism fall on super deaf ears this day.

In case any of you give a shit and live in the bay:
