I played at release. It's still classic travel.
I remember seeing a high level wizard once in Qeynos Hills. Right after server up. He gated out shortly after.

I ran two half-elves from Qeynos to Kelethin because porters weren't plentiful. That's classic at launch travel. Having to run yourself. Banking all your gear and money except for some food, water and a rusty weapon.

But if that's classic travel to people they basically are saying "no, I don't want to have the option to take a PoK book, instead I want to annoy someone to take time out of their day to save me a long run".

Agree with Daldaen.

Are you involved in the TAK project? I loved EQ Mac, and wish I would have played it more.

Books were a really big help for noobs...but they honestly didn't help all that much when you looked at the expansion continents. You still needed a Druid/Wiz or a lot of running to get way out into Kunark, Velious, and Luclin. A book could drop you at specific places in these zones, but you usually had to hoof it afterwards to get to Seb, WW, Ssra, etc.
Yea I'm on there occasionally. Was on there before they wiped closed alpha and I tested a few things but I'd like to test more. Mac was indeed the shit. Classic client/code and best expansion as the final one. You couldn't get more perfect. Really wish they'd Rez it and charge subscription.
