this is very similar to how when nihilum was disbanded, azrael attempted to look like the "good guys" by constantly promoting server health, willingness to compromise with other raid guilds, taking a stand against recruitment, etc.
but now that they're actually being confronted to negotiate, they're very quick to say "we will not discuss this. we decide when raid mobs get killed."
