If you're not having fun, you're not having fun. Sure, being level 50 is cool and all, but if it's a hellish slog to get there, are you really going to appreciate what you've done, or will you just type /played and regret how many hours you've made yourself miserable?

If the terrain and mobs are right, I'm pretty sure bards win out for soloing efficiency.
