Food/Drink Duration

Hey, this may seem a bit of a noob question so thought I'd put it here. I did search the forums but seem to get a few conflicting answers.

Are food & drink durations in? That is to say, Iron Ration lasts longer than Ration which lasts longer than Muffin?
