The -gate suffix refers to systematic corruption or any other type of conspiracy. Someone cheating in a game of hand egg is neither.

Watergate was a scandal which exposed illicit activity that made the public feel betrayed. You made up your own definition for the suffix "-gate", but your definition sucks. Just because you don't care about football doesn't mean this is an inappropriate nickname.

Also, saying 'handegg' just makes you seem like whiny little bitch that got picked on as a child and lives on the internet as an adult. Football is a family of sports, and referring to any of them as 'football' is appropriate within the right context.
