I quit in '04 after 12 years, 2 packs a day.
Truth be told, I don't even really know how. Was at a party, left my cigs there by accident, never made it to the store to get more that night, nor the next morning. Never bought them again.
Good luck! It can be done, and as I recall after day 2 it's down to the mental stuff, like not having anything in your fingers to fidget with. A bit like trying to stop a habit like biting your fingernails or something . . . just tell yourself to "stop it" when you catch yourself holding your pen like a cig, or chewing on it or something. This is the part that seemed to take a while to pass.
