i'd say the best thing to do is figure out what TYPE of class you enjoy playing (caster, healer/support, melee ect) and then make a few toons to try out the different classes that fit the bill.

Agreed. Usually there's people who enjoy pulling/tanking/moving around... and people who like to sit back from that and watch it all happen.
