I would have liked to have been in the room when they pitched the floating sperms in Kunark. I'm betting it went something like this:

Designer 1: "I have created a powerful race of lizard men who's once great civilization has crumbled after a thousands-year long war with dragonkind"

Designer 2: "I have a stoic race of half dragon-half lizard people whom rose up from the bonds of slavery and created a Monarchical society within a mountain strong hold."

Designer 3: "woot woot, floating spermz ...with teeth!"

Boss: "Floating sperms you say? With teeth? Give this man a raise, and put him in charge of our entire Velious expansion."
