I put wrong attribute points, keeps bothering me

I listened to the character creation screen before I read the 1999 wiki, and I've pestered multiple players and they said it won't matter between buffs and magical equipment by level 51 because you'll be maxed essentially. Yet it seems the best rogues are barbarians rolling str and sta only.

Can some high level rogue just tell me they made the same mistake and I'll be fine? My woodad elf rogue is now level 15, and I put like only 5 points into sta and str, with rest into dexter or agi I think.

Do you think at this point the maximization matters, and I don't actually truly understand why making a barbarian matters so much, besides seeing one rogue with all this armor on. Aesthetically it looks interesting but ridiculous to see a barb rogue with chain on while sneaking or backstabbing.

Crucify these feelings of shame rogue community. Or make it worse and make me reroll...
