Large race bash vs magical creatures?

Wiki says "For mobs that require magic weapons to be damaged, the Slam user must equip a magic item in the Shoulders slot, otherwise the Shield slot is used."

So my shoulder armor piece needs to be labeled magical to do damage, but do I still get the slam stun effect? And if the shield isn't magical - same question
