Is there much point to being a dark elf with guise in game?

Even with a guise, you'll know you arent a real darkie.

Dark elves hide is great for wizards, which makes them a power combo.

Dark elves also are with high elves top tier enchanter and they have no need for a guise.

And, much later, dark elf casters get red/purple chain mail as their cultural armor. It looks pretty sweet even on a melee class, and has real nice caster stats.
