I will be moving to a 4 acre home with some woods. Plan is to have chickens, a big garden etc. I grew up on a farm and we had barn cats and I think they are great for having around to keep the rodents away.

I have never owned my own pet though. Any advice from this crowd on having an outdoor cat? Can you have an indoor and an outdoor cat or do they tend to prefer one or the other?
