How is the community?

Last time I played this game was 2004 as a teenager. I believe the last expansion I experienced was planes of power.
I have tried regular Everquest free to play and hated it with all the changes. So, I am wondering. Is the community on the Green server and such good helpful people or is it just boxers and such(not sure if that is allowed)? I dunno if I want to keep going if there is no one to play with! On a side note, it is funny how one remembers all the old zones and how to get around even this far into the future! It was like second nature going to a bard after 18 years away.
