Oh speaking of this, my dad tells me if I ever take a gal on any kind of remote hike to always carry

He told a story of a time where he and a gal he was dating were camping and doing this hike down a trail near a river that was very remote, hadn’t seen anyone. Then, around a corner about 50 yards away he spots 3 very disreputable looking guys, and they see him and his girl. Dad said it seemed they were sizing him up, and somehow a decision was made and they started walking his general direction

He had his gun on his side and they hadn’t seen it yet, he said he didn’t want to pull it out because it would be too aggressive, so he just turned sideways so that they could see it. He said the direction of their walk seemed to change and they continued past. He said at no point did any of them say hello or hi or nod or nothing cordial at all

He said he was pretty convinced had he not been armed things could have gone very badly. Hill billy crazies….gotta be mindful
