That's a nice find. No personal memory of it, obviously.

Note that the polar bear helm we're all familiar with is simply the Barbarian racial version of the ordinary leather helm--other races certainly have their own textures for leather helms. The archived threads you link suggest this graphic was in-game for only a short time and was removed very early. If it existed the textures should be present on an original Velious installation disk. They may not be present on a 2001 Trilogy client and obviously might not exist on Titanium (although they might remain on either of those clients as a relic--can someone check?).

Suggesting this was changed to a "skull shaped barbute" graphic indicates it changed to the old world plate graphic presently used by the non-custom shaman Thurgadin helms on P1999. Do plane of growth shaman helms presently have a plate graphic on P1999?
