The Benefits of World Hunger

This article is tongue-in-cheek, albeit bitterly so. It is not actually celebrating hunger. It is criticizing those at the top for not using their wealth and power to solve hunger because they aren't financially motivated to do so.

This is made evident in the final paragraph:
"For those of us at the high end of the social ladder, ending hunger globally would be a disaster. If there were no hunger in the world, who would plow the fields? Who would harvest our vegetables? Who would work in the rendering plants? Who would clean our toilets? We would have to produce our own food and clean our own toilets. No wonder people at the high end are not rushing to solve the hunger problem. For many of us, hunger is not a problem, but an asset."
He's pretending to be the "us" and he's saying "us" is an asshole.

Again, if you think the UN or the individual who wrote the article actually prefers a world where there is mass hunger, you are dumb.
