Root rotting is good, you just need to know when to use it and when not to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gdAIheodtY - This is an example of root rotting in Velks. I have little trouble keeping the mobs rooted and dotted.
For Droga, I don't root rot as much. JBB is a very nice tool in lower level dungeons, and it breaks root. I will use Epic, JBB, and pet as my damage dealers. https://wiki.project1999.com/Tigir%27s_Insects is a good option to slow multiple mobs at once, so you can simply slow/tank a few goblins at a time while your Epic is ticking on them.
You also do need to be more careful in Droga. The mobs do hit hard for their level, so they can beat you up if you have like 10+ attacking you.

Yeah I agree the Pet + JBB works better there in droga. I tried that the other day and it wasn't too bad. Not as fast or easy as my 60 monk, but a lot more reliable than root-rotting. I did have to use annul magic a couple times to remove the damage shields on the goblins, but it seems cheaper than trying to blow 800 mana on struggling with keep 8 caster goblins root. Honestly, I tend prefer having my pet out at most camps anyway. The pets DPS is not as good as the Mage, Necro, or Enchanter pet, but its still pretty decent and it's one the only 3 ways I can do mana free dps as a shaman. Bane is nice too, but it's so expensive to use, I tend prefer just using the JBB if it will land for full damage.
