Honestly I never understood why training was banned. It's part of the game. Trains are classic. What was the official stance on live back in 1999?

When EQ first launched it was highly dependent on the server. There wasn't a PNP because the devs had no idea one would be needed. As emergent behavior came out and people started griefing etc. the GMs on different servers would take different stances. Some would do nothing, some would issue punishments. By the end of 1999 the PNP was drafted and put out to ensure consistency in rules across severs and ban things like training, kill stealing, etc.
