it's not really insider trading in the way the other elected officials do it by abusing confidential info to buy or sell to enrich themselves

Trump basically announced to the world, like months, years ago? whenever his dislike of free trade and intention to tariff the shit of people something he apparently talked publicly about before ever running for president

and even after winning the election and saying "i want to do this, i'm going to do this" the market still didn't believe him.

this is actually the most telegraphed market moving news ever, really, just most people assumed he would be talked out of it or something.
