decent take

My problem with Trek is... like OG Trek with episodes with the Klingons and Romulans and they're ackchyually talking about the Cold War, that's legit as fuck and cool and served a real purpose for the audience in helping deal with the geopolitical realities of the day

TNG episode writers were like naive in ways only that older generation could be, and the random episodes where some real shit was discussed were often written by a guest writer

Like the first Barclay episode and creator of the character, was written by a woman named Sally Caves who did it as a "satirical depiction of Trekkies and their excessive obsession with imaginary characters." it's the episode where Barclay recreates female crew members in the holodeck to deal with his social anxiety and shyness, get's caught and the episode deals with the female crew perspective on being violated and he fights Riker iirc idk it's been a min since i actually watched it, butt it's super hamfisted and isn't a well regarded episode but the writer had something to actually say and it's still relevant 30 w/e years later where most of the TNG episodes with the "obviously we're going to do the right thing here because we're good people episodes and every problem is very black and white good vs evil" just aren't

idk, just had to shitpost about TNG holodeck episodes

the tl;dr is
TNG is garbage
DS9 is a little better
and Babylon 5 is actually a good show.

come at me.
