So I haven't been doing much in the way of God mode stuff (I think
Dartain wore me out) but today I decided to conquer the Plane of Fear. (I should mention I hate posting these unsuccessful reports but I feel I owe it to my public to show that I'm not really that much better than anyone else, I just try more.) [You must be logged in to view images. After recharge I tried again, this time I got a few scareling teleports on my pet and each time this resulted in a few more mobs. I was still not doing too badly until a glare lord showed up right as charm broke (again) and I was gibbed (1500 damage in 1 second roughly) before I could cap out. So I ported in again and managed to loot my corpse before capping out (again) due to low mana pool. At this point I felt like I was spending more time recharging my cap than anything so I decided to change my strategy a bit. I don't think the actual zone in to Fear is that bad, the problem is the fucking scarelings and their ports which are practically a siren call for more mobs. So this time I carefully calmed the scareling near the portal and kept another one mezzed and I was able to kill 4 mobs before having to cap out due to lack of mana. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] http://s2.postimage.org/m4gf5vjfb/EQ000172.png I was really abusing the strings as charm kept breaking. I managed to pick up a Shissar Focus Staff in VP; I really wish that thing went up to 51 instead of 49 which would make it a godly item even with a 16s cast time; as is its good but not fantastic. So I recharged my cap (again) and went back to finish the last scareling. I decided to try rooting my pet to see if this would prevent the gate. This turned out to be a very bad idea; my pet was teleported anyway but could not run back, and aggroed pretty much all of the west wall roamers. Capped again. At this point I was really determined to fuck up some scarelings and zoned in with the intention of chainstunning them. I zoned in and was immediately jumped by the ex pet (by now I was really beginning to regret weaponizing that guy and zoning into an ass kicking every time). I was about to go to work on the scareling near the zone when I was jumped by two spiders and another gorilla. Once again I just got screwed on charm breaks (I had started with 10 charges on my strings and I was down to 4 at this point) as well as getting jumped by a bunch of adds (again). At least I did manage to kill one gorilla, so progress, kind of. [You must be logged in to view images. Of course he was immediately teleported off the hill so finally I said fuck it and followed him. He ended up in the middle of a pile of scarelings which I thought was the end for sure but one of them was 51+ and kept summoning him back every time they port/healed him. He managed to kill two before he was slain. [You must be logged in to view images. One of the biggest problems with this whole business is all the fear mobs have so many HP that the fights take forever. I would say they have 50-100% more hp than normal L50 mobs which is quite tiresome. I was using the strings at this point more to save mana than anything else as I was having to CC 6-8 other mobs near the west wall anyway. Finally I just ran out and had to cap (again). Kill total was 4-5 including the annoying roamer so definitely progress. [You must be logged in to view images. TMO is at least honest that their goal is is steal all your mobs; BDA basically does the same thing only less effectively and with an irritatingly holier-than-thou attitude. Taking fear and insulting the guy you took it from is fine according to server rules; I had capped and abandoned the camp and fear isn't considered a camp anyway. TMO does this kind of thing all the time. But it is not a nice thing to do either for a guild that supposedly is all about playing nice. They knew I was there (I wasn't anon, and had been in fear for ~30 consecutive minutes before I capped out), they just said fuck it and went anyway. And when I did show up they didn't offer to negotiate (I would have been happy to just finish my break which was almost done) and then just kill a golem, not quite 100% but whatever its my challenge, instead they just said fuck you. And then they asked for c2. Anyway, lessons learned: * Don't weaponize the gorilla that roams over the entrance, instead get him killed ASAP * Don't do this when CT is in window * Keep the scarelings away from the pack and mez the one near the entrance * Use calm and blur to save mana, and when you get low mem gate to save cap funds * Stockholm is a tool I'll try again next week or so.
