Default My Thoughts After A Few Days

Hey everyone!

I want to start off by saying that I've been really having a great time leveling my Iksar Necro in FoB. This server really brings back some good memories of those good old days. People are super friendly on the server, and I've been pleasantly surprised by the number of people online at any given time.

With that being said, I can't help but notice that I am starting to feel the nostalgia wear off. I'm not sure what it is, but I feel like I'm not sure where I am really going with all of this. To be fair, I didn't start with classic. I played shortly before Luclin was released, so a lot of my favorite memories actually tend to be of exploring the higher end content of luclin and PoP. To be fair, I didn't get into serious raiding until PoP but all of my high school buddies were VT keyed and continuously whined about how boring clearing in luclin had become. No doubt, there are big problems with the content, but also a lot of great things as well and I may end up missing it.

Now I realize that many of you feel that Luclin and PoP were the beginning of the end of the best parts of EQ. I read through a lot of an old thread last night, and I see both sides of the argument. To my knowledge, there are no plans for P99 to go beyond Velious, but I can't help but wonder what happens when everything plays out. I guess I just find myself wondering if I will get bored too quickly.

Again, I want to emphasize that I am having fun with P99 as it is now. I think Velious is going to be fun. Since I'm coming back as a casual rather than hardcore, I think I am just going to focus on doing those weird little quests, skilling up trade skills, and actually finishing my epic (provided this is actually possible on P99). I think that, in the end, P99 is more about reviving the original sense of awe and wonder rather than worrying about item and character power progression.

I hope I can continue to enjoy the quirky little things before nostalgia completely fades. Regardless, I appreciate what this community represents, and hope things continue to improve and get better over time.
