Honestly, don't pay for the client - like has been said SOE give the files away for free anyway - just not the specific version you need. Nobody is going to come banging down your door to drag you through the courts and ban you from using a computer for life because you downloaded an ancient bit of software to play some classic eq. If SOE didn't want people playing this they would have shut ot down a long time ago.
I already replied to this, however I actually did a search for a client and I could not find any for free. However, why doesn't Project 1999 give the download for free themselves? I mean seriously, if it is content that can no longer be received unless with lots of money or under the radar, but it's all ok, why not simply have this site have a link? SOE isn't going to shut down the site, since after all they are giving away the game right? I am sure one of the mods or admins have a Titanium client to put here.
