Someone can correct me, but the way I understand it is:
- Mob dies to group, group receives XP - XP is divided into 'shares' and each share is multiplied by a specific member's XP bonus or penalty - The shares are re-aggregated and distributed to the group based on level. So if a group of 3 rangers was awarded 300xp, the three shares of 100xp would be multiplied by .6, the products would be summed, then divided amongst the 3 players for an effective penalty of 40%. If it was a ranger and 2 non-penalized classes (all of equal level) it would look something like: 300 to group --> 100*1(no penalty) + 100*1(no penalty) + 100*.6(ranger) --> 260/3 = 86.6xp to each player for an effective penalty of 13.3% to the whole group. Someone with a more intimate understanding of the code can certainly correct me if I'm off, but this is how it was explained to me.
