![]() I soloed my druid to I think level 11 before I switched over to the shaman. It was a bit of a pain, but not really that bad, especially not after I got my level 9 spells - thorns helps a lot. Basically, if I recall correctly, I'd thorns up and just melee the mob, maybe nuke once or twice, and then tree up to heal. Not super-fast, but there are certainly worse soloers at that level. Once you hit 14 and get SoW you can kite effectively and it'll get way easier. 2 hours a level is nothing; on my shaman right now, who's 26, I'm doing 4 hours a level at my very fastest, usually more like 5 due to bad pulls or competing for monsters. You really shouldn't judge a class based on how it plays at level 9. Of course, if you're in Crushbone, the quests you should be doing are the Crushbone belts and shoulderpads. Although if you're strapped for cash, it may be wiser to sell the former for 1pp each and the latter for 2pp each (although you get about half that money doing the quests anyway).
Selling bone chips is a great way to make money as a lowbie in general, but not specifically in Faydwer, as demand tends to be pretty low (not a lot of necros running around). They generally go for 5-10pp a stack if you can find a buyer. If not, run to Kaladim and give them four at a time to Gunlok Jure of the paladin guild for a few gold and some experience (the experience is excellent at lower levels, but if you have a few stacks it can still be substantial at your level). I didn't even have enough money to get all my spells on my druid when I hit 9; the good news is that not all of them are strictly necessary. I'm a perfectionist, though, and insist on having every spell. Another nice way to farm up some plat is killing green goblins in Butcherblock (not the warriors or whelps, though). They'll drop a few gold every kill, and while the casters are tougher, they'll also drop gems.

then you will level incredibly slow compared to someone who can play 10 hours a day and have 100,000p to twink with. As far as making plat? Just loot and sell vendor junk as you level. plat will come. Its a waste of effort to try and force it.

![]() By the time you get that druid to 34 to start making the real plat money Taxi Service gravy train (ppl with money want Lavastorm and Feerot, face it), your necro could be 50 and laughing at the money your druid is losing 300mana a cast to scrape together bit by bit.

Anyways, I figured out a way to get a decent amount of xp on my necro, but kiting yellow's and sometimes red's so long as there's a kind soul, eg: Psych, in EC willing to keep a SoW up on me. Except that stupid griffin keeps killing me when I least expect it. God I love this game.

![]() A few buddies of mine played druids back in the day and it always seemed like they were 2x ahead of me in terms of experience (They did play a lot more than I did). I've always heard that druids are one of the best solo classes in the game, as kiting is effective in many areas.
On that note, I am a level 19 completely untwinked cleric and even though it takes a LONG time for me to level soloing, it's completely possible. Especially against undead. I've seen people solo untwinked rogues to 30 (not really sure why you would do that) and i've seen necromancers who always had a group. It all depends on your play style. I assure you that you can do the things that are enjoyable to you while still progressing in levels. Regurgatonic quest, homie. That's all i'm sayin'. [You must be logged in to view images. Grouping it plays a bigger roll if you have to heal on an overpull or something, bur otherwise just learn to play with what you have. Bad thing about P99 is the farming. On live in '99 you could just group at a mob to get an item you needed for an upgrade. These days you are more likely going to be forced to buy it from a farmer.

Alternatively, play the class and style that is fun for you, and don't worry about money and exp gain. That's the lesser chosen path which could be the most rewarding long term.

I would say that this isnt entirely true. I soloed my druid very successfully. Get on the boat to freeport and hunt Ro! You wont level fast by soloing so just forget about that exp bar and have fun. When you hear that DING! you will get a smile on your face. Just play and have fun.

![]() Don't neglect Flame Lick. That oft overlooked little spell is a decent boost for a long time.

![]() I gave the game a fair shot. I got sick of no grouping, then trying to find a solo spot, to be ambushed, then going to WC on guild's suggestion and dying there and not having a way back to retrieve my corpse.
