Hounds weren't particularly rare, and the hides weren't too bad.
But they sort of blended in with the surrounding and its a big zone. If you were trying to find them without track I could understand why you missed them back then. It did take a couple days of going in tracking and killing a few and coming back later to get the 8 required for shawl.
