From my house, this is not a server side issue.
I tried switching between the internet connections and as soon as I was on the Zyxel, all my problems was occuring again.
The fact that some less craptastic ISPs manage to cope with p99 better than CenturyLink & etc. does not make this a non-p99 issue. Other games & sites do not have the problem. The system formed by p99 client + p99 server has issues not present with other online services. It's a free service, we have no way to encourage a fix except by asking nicely and explaining the observed behavior as clearly as possible, but that doesn't stop us from hoping for a fix.

Happening to me every now and then. This was happening a couple months ago and died down until now. It isn't a p99 issue for me. My connection usually fails at the same hop for about 5 mins around 5 times a day.. very frustrating. It's always some node in NY/NJ. I don't have these problems when I connect via my phone's ISP.

Disclaimer: The following is all conjecture and I have no proof or data to backup my claims.

This seems to me some issue with TTL on a packet somewhere. The upload on my ISP is absolutely terrible. When trying to zone during times I know my internet is at its worst, the screen will sit loading for ~3 minutes, finally kick back out to login screen, then when I login again it says my character is still in game and I need to wait. So while the character was never really disconnected from the server, there was some signal lost along the way telling my client I was still connected. Likely this is an issue that would require optimizing for poor connections, which would have a decent chance have having a negative effect on gameplay.

Been having zoning issues for the last 6 months now. I live in Japan but have no problems with any other online games. 200 mb/s Internet. Its really frustrating..and it seems from this 28 page thread that the devs really don't care. Bit of a shame but oh well. Was fun while it lasted.

Default Your tethering is not welcome here

Looks like basically servers are just too congested at times for poor connections to login. High speed internet is required to play for now.

Heaven forbid they fix the problem being that it's their server that cant handle all the connections, better to make those peons out in the blue yonder either give up or drop $$$ for better internets (which isn't an option for some).

Doesn't look like its just Project 1999's server issue, because people on other EQemu servers having problems. So you might want to post your bitching on that forum instead [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

..not even going to respond to that

I have been having crashing issues only while zoning or loading in from the character screen only since the last major patch. I managed to reduce the 50-60% zone crashing down to about 25% by turning off loading art while zoning in the Eq options as people have suggested in the crashing FAQ. I have tried port forwarding and running in admin mode with no luck. My wifes computer runs the same problem and it has just been since the last patch so i'm not sure what else to try. Hopefully it will get sorted out in a later update its just a minor inconvenience having to force shut down and wait for our characters to get booted before logging in. To everyone elses problems I suggest checking out the FAQ at the top of the Tech page and try some of the remedies. It might not cure it but it made it a lot less annoying.
