I disagree with deleting 20-30+ page threads.

Very strongly.

Just lock it and cite a reason like every other discussion forum moderator.

I fail to see where and when outright deletion is warranted because of a few troll in a thread discussion involving 50 people with hundreds of readers.

Back to Twitter style posting and 1 liners is our safest place for the time being.
